Restraining Bolt is the final studio album by American rock band Radish. It was released on April 22, 1997. The band recorded it from June to November 1996 at Studio Sheffield in Baltimore and Fort Apache in Boston. The album runs 48 minutes and 42 seconds and blends alternative rock with grunge and post-grunge. Mercury Records released it, with production by Roger Greenawalt, Sean Slade, and Paul Q. Kolderie. Ben Kweller, Radish's frontman, was 15 years old when the album came out. The album was not a commercial success, selling about 13,000 copies by March 1998. The Village Voice praised Kweller's loud, powerful vocals, describing them as a grunge-style roar. Restraining Bolt is Radish's last studio album; their previous release was Dizzy in 1995.
