Red Dust & Spanish Lace is Acoustic Alchemy's breakthrough debut studio album, released on May 4, 1987. It was recorded in 1987 at Hansa-Haus Studios in Bonn, Germany, and Hot Nights Studios in London, and runs 38 minutes and 15 seconds in the smooth jazz style. The nine-track record was released by MCA (catalog 5816); a 1996 re-release appeared on GRP (9833). Produced by John Parsons, the album launched Acoustic Alchemy's career and was followed by Natural Elements in 1988. The album features the radio-friendly single "Mr. Chow"—described as "Chinese reggae"—as well as "Sarah Victoria," a re-recording of an early demo, and the title track "Red Dust & Spanish Lace." Additional musicians contributed to the project.
