Voorhees is a hardcore punk band from Durham, England, formed in 1991. The group grew out of nearby punk and straight edge scenes, with Ian Leck on vocals and Sean Readman on guitar helping to drive a fast, aggressive sound. They chose the name Voorhees as a nod to Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th.

They released their early material on independent labels, beginning with the Violent EP in 1993. Their first full album, Spilling Blood Without Reason, followed in 1994. In 1995 they recorded a John Peel session for BBC Radio 1, which helped raise their profile in the UK and beyond. The band began touring Europe and the United States, bringing their intense, old‑school hardcore to new audiences.

Over the years Voorhees went through several lineup changes but kept releasing material. Their second album, 13th, was recorded in 1998–1999 and released through Armed with Anger and Six Weeks. They issued the Fireproof EP, recorded in New Jersey, and then Crystal Lake’s Legacy, which came out in 2001. After a busy run, the band broke up later that year.

Voorhees returned for a one‑off performance in October 2004, a ferry‑boat show billed as Night of the Living Dead at Sea. In 2010 they reformed for shows in Amsterdam and Leeds, with some members stepping in temporarily. In 2012 they re‑assembled again with a mix of past members and played a string of shows, including appearances with Negative Approach and a 20th‑anniversary event in 2013. They continued to perform at events such as Bloodshed Fest in Eindhoven in 2014 and beyond.

Their music is described as ultra‑raw, blistering hardcore inspired by bands like SSD, Negative Approach, and Discharge. Voorhees is known for the raw energy of their live shows and their stubborn commitment to old‑school hardcore punk.
