Rather Be is a 2014 song by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne. It was released on 17 January 2014 as the fourth single from Clean Bandit’s debut album, New Eyes, and also appears on the deluxe edition of Glynne’s I Cry When I Laugh. The track was written by Jack Patterson, Grace Chatto, Jimmy Napes, and Nicole Marshall, and produced by Patterson and Chatto. It blends classical violin with house music and is in a minor key at 120 BPM.

The song was a big hit worldwide. It debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart and stayed there for four weeks, selling over 160,000 copies in its first week. It went on to sell millions and earned 3× platinum status in the UK, while also reaching number one in several other countries and peaking at number 10 in the US. The music video, filmed in Tokyo and featuring Haruka Abe, helped the song go viral on YouTube, with hundreds of millions of views. In 2015 it won the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.

The first play was on BBC Radio 1 as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World on 4 December 2013, and Warner Music released several official remixes to accompany the single.
