Ramón Calderé
Ramón María Calderé del Rey, born 16 January 1959 in Vila-rodona, Catalonia, is a Spanish former footballer who played as a midfielder and later became a manager. He was known as an all‑round midfielder and spent most of his career with Barcelona, appearing in many La Liga games. He also played for Valladolid and Betis.
Calderé came through Barcelona’s youth system and played for Barcelona B, with loan spells at Alcalá and Valladolid. He made his La Liga debut with Valladolid in 1980–81 and helped them win the league that season. In 1984 he joined Barcelona’s first team, playing there until 1988. He later played for Betis (1988–1990) and Sant Andreu (1990–1993), retiring at 34.
Internationally, Calderé earned 18 caps for Spain and scored 7 goals. He played in the 1986 World Cup and in Euro 1988.
After retiring, Calderé became a coach, mainly in Catalonia and in Spain’s lower leagues. He led many clubs, including Premià, Cornellà, Gavà, Castelldels, Badalona, Ceuta, Reus Deportiu, Teruel, Palencia, and Burgos, and he also had a spell as an assistant at Sint-Truidense in Belgium.
In June 2008, while managing Reus, he was arrested following an alleged assault on a civil guard during a match.
Calderé’s career is marked by his versatility in midfield and his long involvement in Spanish football, first as a player and then as a coach.
