Ram Lal Rahi
Ram Lal Rahi (1 January 1934 – 10 December 2020) was an Indian National Congress leader and a former Union minister. He served as Minister of State for Home Affairs from 1991 to 1996 under Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao. He was elected to the Lok Sabha four times from Mishrikh and twice to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Hargaon in Sitapur district.
Born in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, on 1 January 1934, into the Pasi community, he completed his high school education at Raja Raghubar Dayal Inter College in Sitapur. He left Congress to join the Bharatiya Janata Party before the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and rejoined Congress in 2019. His son Suresh Rahi is an MLA from Hargaon on a BJP ticket. He was admitted to Sitapur district hospital after chest pain and breathing difficulties and died on 10 December 2020 around 5:30 pm from a heart attack, while also testing positive for COVID-19. He was 86.
