Rakista is a Philippine comedy musical TV series that aired on TV5 from August 14 to November 20, 2008. The show, created by Quark Henares and Diego Castillo, follows a newly formed rock band named The Love Team as they navigate campus and off-campus adventures. It stars Carlo Aquino, Charles Christianson, Denise Laurel, Alcris Galura, Rhea Nakpil, Marco Morales, Wincy Aquino Ong, and Jewelyn Block. Directed by Quark Henares and Mihk Vergara, Rakista features original rock music by Mikey Amistoso and Diego Mapa, with narration by Lourd de Veyra. Writers include King Palisoc, Yvette Tan, and Erwin Romulo. Executive producers are Mads Adrias and Quark Henares; editors are Onin Tagaro and John Bautista. The series used a multi-camera setup and each episode runs about an hour. Rakista premiered during TV5’s relaunch in 2008, replacing PBA Classics and later being replaced by Rescue Mission. It was praised for its distinctly Filipino humor and style, with influences noted from creators like Joss Whedon, John Hughes, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, and the film 9 Songs.
