Raja Veda Kavya Patasala is a religious school (Patasala) in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India, located on the southern bank of the Cauvery river. It was founded in 1542 CE by Govinda Dikshitar, who also contributed to nearby temples, including the gopura and granary of the Palaivananathar Temple and the gopura and new shrines of the Kumbeswarar Temple, as well as the Ramaswamy Temple. The Patasala’s main aim is to teach the Vedas and other sacred texts, and it has served for more than four centuries without interruption. In 1972, the Advaitha Vidyacharya Maharaja Sahib Govinda Dikshitar Punya Smarana Samithi was established in his memory. The school welcomes students from Smartha, Vaishnava, and Madhwa traditions and offers eight to ten years of study in four Vedas, with certificates issued on completion. Students may continue their studies here alongside regular school education. The building was renovated in 1933 and again on 1 November 2015. The 480th annual day was celebrated on 8 May 2022.
