Rahul Thatha
Rahul Thatha, born Udayabhanu, is an Indian actor and comedian who mainly appears in Tamil films, especially in comedy scenes. He became famous for his role in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015). From a young age, he was inspired by films like the James Bond series and hoped to act on screen. At 20, he left his hometown Nagapattinam and moved to Chennai to chase his dream. Since he didn’t have film connections, he first worked in hotels, eventually becoming a caterer on film sets. There he met veteran actor M. G. Ramachandran (MGR), who became his mentor and even hired him as a chef for a while. He later appeared in small, uncredited roles with MGR in Adimai Penn (1969), Rickshawkaran (1971), Idhayakkani (1975), and Uzhaikkum Karangal (1976). After a long break, he returned with a part in Kaththi (2014), directed by A. R. Murugadoss. He then did a photoshoot for Maari (2015). Vignesh Shivan later cast him in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, and his performance as Rahul Thatha won praise from audiences. The role also became his stage name, helping him gain more film opportunities.
