Raging Speedhorn
Raging Speedhorn are a British extreme metal band from Corby, England. They formed in 1998 when two local bands, Soulcellar and Box, merged. The band originally had two vocalists, and Bloody Kev joined later after Frank Regan left in 2005.
Their early sound is heavy and loud, with thick guitars and strong bass. Lyrics often cover hedonism, drugs, violence, and anti-mainstream labels. Their first single, Thumper, came out in 2000, and The Gush reached the UK charts in 2001.
In 2007 they released Before the Sea Was Built, produced with Larry Hibbitt. The group split in 2008, planning a final tour that was initially canceled, but a final UK and Ireland tour eventually took place, ending in Japan.
The band reformed in 2014 to play Damnation Festival, with John Loughlin and Frank Regan on vocals. They played Sonisphere in the UK and announced an eleven-date UK tour. In 2016 they released Lost Ritual, recorded with Russ Russell.
Guitarists Jim Palmer and Jamie Thompson left in 2018. They celebrated their 20th anniversary with a London show featuring the original lineup, and later James Palmer and Dave Leese joined on guitars. In 2019 Daniel Cook joined as vocalist, replacing John Loughlin after 21 years.
Over the years, Raging Speedhorn moved from nu metal toward a mix of hardcore punk, extreme metal, sludge, and stoner metal.
