David Jackman (minister)
David Jackman (born 10 July 1942 in Bournemouth, England) is a British evangelical preacher and trainer. He founded the Cornhill Training Course in 1991 and served as president of The Proclamation Trust from 2004. He was the minister at Above Bar Church in Southampton from 1976 to 1991.
He studied at Downing College, Cambridge, and trained at Trinity College, Bristol, where he learned from J. Alec Motyer and J. I. Packer. He also worked with the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF).
In 1974 he wrote his first short book, Starting as a Student: A Christian Approach. He joined Above Bar Church in 1976 as assistant minister under Leith Samuel and became Senior Minister in 1980.
In 1991 he left Southampton to start the Cornhill Training Course, a program of The Proclamation Trust to train preachers in exegesis, exposition, and communication.
Jackman has written and spoken widely, with expository works on Judges & Ruth, the Letters of John, and Let’s Study 1 Corinthians. He is a visiting lecturer at Oak Hill Theological College in London and was chairman of the 9:38 Committee.
He is married to Heather, and they have two grown children. He also speaks at conferences such as the Keswick Convention and Word Alive.
