Pushprajgarh tehsil
Pushprajgarh tehsil is a subdivision in Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh, India. It covers about 1,652 square kilometers and includes Amarkantak, the source of the Narmada river and a popular pilgrimage site. The tehsil borders Umaria district to the northwest, Shahdol district to the north and northeast, Jaithari tehsil to the east, the state of Chhattisgarh to the southeast, and Dindori district to the south, west, and southwest.
As of the 2011 census, Pushprajgarh tehsil had a population of 230,005. Scheduled Castes make up 7.19% of the people and Scheduled Tribes 76.84%. Hindi is spoken by 94.82% of residents as their first language, while 3.53% speak Gondi. The local spoken form of Hindi mixes Bagheli and Chhattisgarhi. The sex ratio is about 994 females for every 1,000 males.
