Public Administration and Development is a peer‑reviewed journal about how public administration helps manage development, especially in low‑ and middle‑income countries. It covers governance at local, regional, national, and international levels and aims to support development initiatives.

The journal began in 1949 and has had several name changes over the years: Journal of African Administration (1949–1961), Journal of Local Administration Overseas (1962–1966), and Journal of Administration Overseas (1966–1980). It is published by Wiley and edited by Mariana Chudnovsky (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile) and Ian C. Elliott (University of Glasgow). It is issued five times a year.

Its 2023 impact factor is 2.6, ranking it 18th out of 63 journals in Development Studies and 28th out of 91 in Public Administration. In 2021, it was ranked as a Grade 2 journal in public administration.
