The Prix Jean de Chaudenay was a Group 2 flat horse race in France for thoroughbreds aged four years and older. It took place at Saint-Cloud Racecourse, on turf, over 2,400 metres (about 1½ miles) on a left-handed track, and usually ran in May or June.

History: The race began in 1920 as the Grand Prix du Printemps, originally for three-year-olds and up, over 2,600 metres. Distances were shortened over the years, dropping to 2,500 metres in 1923 and then to 2,400 metres in 1929. It was renamed in memory of Jean de Chaudenay in the late 1960s, with the first run under the new name in 1969. When the current race grading started in 1971, it was classified as Group 2. The race stopped admitting three-year-olds in 1994 and was held at Deauville in 1996 over 2,500 metres. The last running was in 2003. In 2004, the Prix Hubert de Chaudenay became known as the Prix Chaudenay to honor both Jean and Hubert de Chaudenay.

Notable results: In 2003, Millenary finished first but was demoted to second after a stewards’ inquiry.

Prize money: In 2003 the total purse was €95,000, with the winner receiving €54,150.
