Prison Shadows
Prison Shadows is a 65-minute American crime film from 1936 directed by Robert F. Hill and starring Edward J. Nugent, Lucille Lund, and Joan Barclay. The story follows Gene Harris, a prizefighter who is sentenced to five years in prison after killing an opponent in the ring. While jailed, his trainer Moran suspects promoter George Miller, whose ally Claire Thomas pretends to love Gene while planning to double-cross him. Gene is released after three years and returns to boxing with support from Mary Comstock, a woman from Miller’s office who believes in his innocence.
As Gene fights on, another foe dies and they uncover a plot where fighters’ towels are poisoned with an undetectable toxin. After overhearing a plan to kill him using the same tactic, Gene fakes his own death during a fight and is carried out of the arena, then uses the moment to trap the villains with the police right after the bout.
