Maldito amor
Maldito amor is a song by Chilean pop teen group Supernova from their 1999 debut album. It was their second single and remains their most played and best known song, still heard on radio today. By 2019 it had over 2 million Spotify streams. The lyrics, written by Koko Stambuk, describe a love triangle and were inspired by a real story from group member Coni Lewin: she liked a boy who liked her best friend, who liked the boy too. Coni told Stambuk the tale, and he wrote the lyrics in about 20 minutes. The music video features the three girls in school uniforms on a bus, plus scenes of a party and a sleepover. In 2014, Kel Calderón, Steffi Méndez and Trini de la Noi recorded a cover of Maldito amor to promote a horror movie of the same name, in which they starred; Supernova members reportedly reacted negatively to the new version.
