Princess Marie of Saxe-Altenburg (1854–1898) was a German princess who became Princess Albert of Prussia by marriage. Born Marie Friederike Leopoldine Georgine Auguste Alexandra Elisabeth Therese Josephine Helene Sophie, she was the only surviving child of Ernst I, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg, and Princess Agnes of Anhalt-Dessau.

In Berlin in April 1873 (reports vary on the exact day), Marie married Prince Albert of Prussia, grandson of Frederick William III of Prussia. The wedding was grand, with Emperor Wilhelm I and Empress Augusta in attendance. The couple had three sons: Friedrich Heinrich Albrecht, Joachim Albrecht, and Friedrich Wilhelm.

In 1885 Albert was appointed Regent for the Duchy of Brunswick, and Marie and Albert lived in Brunswick, Berlin, and Kamenz. Marie died on 8 October 1898 at Kamenz Castle. Her funeral was attended by Kaiser Wilhelm II and Empress Augusta Victoria.

Albert died in 1906. They were buried in the Kamenz mausoleum, which was later disturbed during World War II and their remains reburied in the park. Marie’s life connected the Saxe-Altenburg and Prussian royal houses, and she was remembered for her grace and modest demeanor.
