Pragyan Ojha
Pragyan Ojha is an Indian former cricketer who played for India in all formats. A left-arm orthodox spinner and a left-handed lower-order batsman, he was born on 5 September 1986 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and moved to Hyderabad at age 14 to pursue cricket.
International career
Ojha played for India from 2008 to 2013. He made his One Day International debut on 28 June 2008 against Bangladesh, his Test debut on 24 November 2009 against Sri Lanka, and his Twenty20 International debut on 6 June 2009 against Bangladesh. In total, he played 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and 6 T20Is, taking 113 Test wickets and 21 ODI wickets. He was part of the India squad that won the 2010 Asia Cup and became the 800th Test wicket for Muttiah Muralitharan. In his last Test for India, in 2013 against the West Indies, he took a total of 10 wickets in the match and was named Man of the Match.
Domestic and IPL career
Ojha played domestic cricket for Hyderabad for many years, and in the Indian Premier League he represented Deccan Chargers and later Mumbai Indians. He also spent brief spells with Surrey (England), Bengal, and Bihar. He enjoyed IPL success, winning titles with Deccan Chargers in 2009 and with Mumbai Indians in 2013 and 2015, and also winning the Champions League with Mumbai Indians. He earned the Purple Cap in 2009 for taking the most wickets in that IPL season. In 2014 his bowling action was found to be illegal and he was suspended, but he was cleared to bowl again in early 2015.
Personal life
Ojha married Karabee Baral on 16 May 2010. His parents are Maheswar Ojha and Bidulata Ojha. He later served as a selector for India’s senior men’s national team.
Retirement
Pragyan Ojha retired from all forms of cricket on 21 February 2020.
