Plumstead Township, Pennsylvania
Plumstead Township is in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. It has about 14,021 residents (2020) and covers roughly 27.2 square miles, almost all of it land. The elevation is about 394 feet.
History and people
The area was settled in the early 1700s by Quakers seeking religious freedom. By 1725, residents asked Bucks County to recognize Plumstead Township. The Doan Outlaws were raised here and were active during the American Revolution.

Gardenville-North Branch Rural Historic District, Dyerstown Historic District, and the Loux Covered Bridge are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Communities and geography
Plumstead includes many small villages such as Carversville, Cross Keys, Dyerstown, Gardenville, Lumberville, Plumsteadville, Point Pleasant, and Wismer. Ralph Stover State Park lies in Plumstead and neighboring Tinicum Township. Natural features include Cabin Run, Tohickon Creek, and several hills and streams.
Climate and nature
The township has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. The plant hardiness zone is 6b, with average winter lows around -2.7°F. July is usually the wettest month.
Roads and transportation
About 111.7 miles of public roads exist in Plumstead (as of 2018). PennDOT maintains about 41 miles; the township maintains about 70 miles. The main road is Pennsylvania Route 611. Other state routes include PA 32, PA 313, and PA 413. SEPTA Route 55 serves Cross Keys Place, and the Doylestown DART bus serves parts of the township.
Demographics
As of 2010, about 94% of residents were White, 0.7% Black, 1.7% Asian, and 4.7% Hispanic or Latino. In 2000 there were 11,409 people, with a median household income around $70,000 and a median family income around $81,000. Most households are families, many with children.
Local flavor
Starting the first weekend in June, the Plumsteadville Grange Farm Market offers fresh produce, baked goods, and handmade items through late October.
