Platanthera leptopetala
Platanthera leptopetala is an orchid also called the narrow-petal rein orchid or lacy rein orchid. It grows along the west coast of the United States, from Washington to California, in scrub and woodland areas in mountains and foothills. The plant stands erect up to about 70 cm tall and starts from a bulb-like base. Its basal leaves reach up to 15 cm long and 3 cm wide, while leaves higher on the stem are smaller. The top part of the stem bears a long, spike-like inflorescence with many delicate, translucent green flowers, which can be fragrant in the evenings. The petals are narrower than those of related species, giving the flowers a lacy look.
