Physician to the King
Physician to the King (or Queen) is a royal title for doctors who work in the Medical Household of the Sovereign of the United Kingdom. The Medical Household is part of the Royal Household and includes general physicians, plus extra physicians who are specialists brought in when needed. In 1973, the Head of the Medical Household was created, and the Head is also a Physician to the King. Other related titles include Physician-in-Ordinary to His Majesty, Physicians Extraordinary to His Majesty, and Honorary Physicians-in-Ordinary to His Majesty in Scotland and in Ireland.
