Phyllocnistis magnoliella
Phyllocnistis magnoliella, also known as the magnolia serpentine leafminer, is a small moth in the Gracillariidae family. It is found in the United States, including Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. The caterpillars mine Magnolia leaves, living inside the leaf and making winding, serpentine tunnels as they feed. Host plants include Magnolia acuminata, Magnolia grandiflora, Magnolia umbrella, and Magnolia virginiana. The species was first described by Chambers in 1878 and has had a few different scientific names over time.
