Peyrieras Reptile Reserve
Madagascar Exotic Reserve, also known as Peyrieras Butterfly Farm, Peyrieras Nature Farm, and Mandraka Reptile Farm, is a small private reserve near Marozevo on National Road 2, about 75 km east of Antananarivo, between Manjakandriana and Moramanga. It's a popular stop for travelers between Antananarivo and Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. The reserve was founded by French naturalist André Peyriéras. It houses many reptiles—such as chameleons, iguanas, and geckos—along with frogs, other amphibians, crocodiles, and butterflies. The adjoining forest has relocation and habituation programs for Verreaux's sifaka and common brown lemurs, which visitors can photograph, especially at feeding times. Most animals are kept in large enclosed buildings and greenhouses, and visitors may enter these with a guide. A group of Coquerel's sifaka visits daily for feeding and photography.
