Peter Haddock
Peter Murray Haddock (born 9 December 1961) is a former English footballer who played as a defender for Newcastle United, Burnley (on loan) and Leeds United. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, he joined his hometown club as an apprentice in 1978 and turned professional in 1979. He made his league debut on 5 September 1981 in a 3–0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers. After a solid spell, his first-team chances waned with new arrivals, and he spent time on loan at Burnley in 1986 before moving to Leeds United later that year for £45,000. At Leeds he faced injuries early on but recovered to win the club’s Player of the Year award in 1988. He formed a strong defensive partnership with Chris Fairclough and helped Leeds win promotion as Second Division champions in 1989–90. His career was cut short by a freak injury in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final against Manchester United in 1991. In total, Haddock made 183 league appearances and scored 1 goal.
