Abdul Aziz Baba

Abdul Aziz bin Baba is a Malaysian medical doctor, haematologist, and academic administrator. He studied medicine at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1979, and earned specialist qualifications including MRCP (UK), MRCP (Ireland), and FRCP (Edinburgh).

He began his academic career at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1986, became a professor in 2000, and served as Dean of the School of Medical Sciences from 2005 to 2012.

In 2013 he joined the International Medical University (IMU) as a professor of medicine and soon took on leadership roles. He was Vice-President of IMU from 2013 to 2015, overseeing the medical and dental programmes, and he served as Director of the IMU Centre for Education in 2015.

From January 1, 2016 to July 31, 2024, he was the Vice-Chancellor (CEO) of IMU, the university’s head. He has also held several notable professional roles, including President of the Malaysian Society of Haematology, Chairman of the National Conjoint Board for Postgraduate Medical Programmes, Chairman of the Specialist Advisory Committee (Clinical Haematology) of the National Specialist Register, and a member of the Malaysian Medical Council.

Born Abdul Aziz bin Baba, he is a Malaysian citizen.
