Pearl Spring
The Pearl Spring (Chinese: 珍珠泉; pinyin: Zhēnzhū Quán) is a culturally significant artesian karst spring in Jinan, Shandong Province, China. It sits at the bottom of a square spring pool surrounded by a stone fence, and its water flows through a canal into Daming Lake. The spring was added to the garden of Prince De in 1466. The Prince De mansion was destroyed in 1638 during war, and in 1667 it was rebuilt as Xunfu Yamen, with the Shandong provincial government staying nearby until the 20th century when Japan occupied Jinan. The spring’s name is said to come from the bubbles that form on the water. After 1979, the site housed the Shandong Provincial People’s Congress. Pearl Spring is near the center of old Jinan, south of Daming Lake. Its address is 1 Yuanqian Avenue, Jinan, Shandong, China.
