Diyet van Lieshout
Diyet van Lieshout is a Canadian singer-songwriter from the Yukon. She has performed both solo and with her band Diyet and the Love Soldiers. She won the Indigenous Songwriter of the Year award at the 15th Canadian Folk Music Awards.
She has Japanese, Scottish, Tlingit, and Southern Tutchone heritage and grew up in the Kluane Lake region. She is a member of the Kluane First Nation.
She met her husband, Robert van Lieshout, who plays guitar in her band, while traveling in Europe.
Her debut album, The Breaking Point, came out in 2010, followed by When You Were King in 2013.
In 2018 she released Diyet and the Love Soldiers, the first album credited to the full band, which helped bring her music to audiences outside Yukon with larger concert dates.
