Papyrus Oxyrhynchus 296 (P. Oxy. 296) is a Greek papyrus letter about taxation. It was found in Oxyrhynchus, Egypt, written on a sheet of papyrus measuring 113 by 74 mm, and dating to 37–55 AD. The letter was written by Heraclides and sent to Asclatas, in the first year of an emperor who was probably Gaius, Claudius, or Nero. Today, the fragment is kept in the Milton S. Eisenhower Library at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
