Darling Girls is a 2023 crime novel by Australian author Sally Hepworth. It won the 2024 Ned Kelly Award for Best Novel. The story follows three sisters—Jessica, Norah, and Alicia—who were fostered by Miss Fairchild after troubled family histories. Miss Fairchild was domineering, so the sisters eventually left home and never returned. Twenty-five years later they come back to the farm where they grew up after a body is found buried under the main house. A Readings bookstore review calls it a thrilling page-turner about sisterhood, secrets, love, and murder. The Ned Kelly Award judges praised Hepworth’s novel as a masterful, cleverly written, and tightly plotted crime story.
