Oversight (horse)
Oversight was a bay French Thoroughbred racehorse born in 1906 in Calvados, Lower Normandy. Bred by American William Kissam Vanderbilt at Haras du Quesnay, he came from the mare First Sight, a daughter of Isinglass, and his sire was Halma, the 1895 Kentucky Derby winner Vanderbilt bought in 1901.
Racing for trainer William B. Duke, Oversight competed from ages two to four. He ran 26 times, won 16 races, finished second 5 times and third 2 times, earning about $117,895. His major French victories included the Prix du President de la Republique (1910), the Prix Jean Prat (1910), the Prix de la Jonchere (1910), and earlier wins such as the Prix Lupin (1909), the Prix Daru (1909), and the Prix de la Salamandre (1908).
After retirement, Oversight stood at stud but was not successful as a sire.
