2005 AFC U-17 Women's Championship: The first edition of the tournament was held in Namhae, South Korea, from 16 to 27 April. Eleven teams from Asia competed at two venues in one city. Japan won the title (their first), with China as runners-up, Thailand in third, and South Korea in fourth. This eventmarked the start of what is now known as the AFC U-16/U-17 Women's Championship.
