North Star Grand Prix
The North Star Grand Prix is a men’s and women’s road cycling stage race held every June in Minnesota, United States, as part of the North Star Bicycle Festival. In 2016, an event was added in North Mankato. It is one of four races on the USA Cycling Pro Road Tour. In 2010, the Grand Prix had six stages: three criteriums, two road races and a time trial. It was known as the Nature Valley Grand Prix until 2013, when sponsorship changes led to the current name. The festival is run by volunteers and proceeds go to Special Olympics Minnesota. The Grand Prix was canceled in 2018, which would have been its 20th year. Attempts to revive it in 2019 failed due to a lack of cash sponsors, with a GoFundMe raising only 6% of the needed funds. The event started in 1999, there have been 19 editions, and the most recent winner was Brodie Chapman (Australia).
