Niedersorpe is a small village in Schmallenberg, in the Hochsauerland district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It has about 229 residents (as of December 31, 2021). The village lies around 432 meters above sea level in the eastern part of Schmallenberg. The Sorpe river flows through Niedersorpe. It borders the villages of Holthausen, Rellmecke, Oberkirchen, Winkhausen and Gleidorf. The first written mention of Niedersorpe (as Suropo) is from 1072 in a charter from Grafschaft Abbey, connected to Bishop Anno of Cologne. Until the end of 1974 it belonged to the municipality of Oberkirchen in Amt Schmallenberg.
