Niagara Riverhawks
The Niagara RiverHawks are a junior ice hockey team from Niagara Falls, Ontario. They compete in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL), in the Bloomfield Division of the South Conference. The club started in 1987 as the Chippawa Merchants, became the Chippawa RiverHawks in 1999, and changed to Niagara RiverHawks in 2014 after moving to the Gale Centre in Niagara Falls. Home games are at the Gale Centre. Team colors are maroon, black, white, and silver (they previously wore teal, gray, and white with orange trim after the move). The general manager is Fred Sacco and the head coach is Tim Barath. The RiverHawks won league championships in 2000 and 2001, and captured the Clarence Schmalz Cup in 2001 by defeating the Belle River Canadiens 4 games to 1. The 2019-20 playoffs were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
