Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County
Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County was an MTV reality-teen drama about affluent teens living in Newport Harbor, Orange County, California. The show used a soap-opera style narrative rather than a straightforward documentary. It aired from August 13, 2007, to January 2, 2008, lasting two seasons and 12 episodes, with each episode about 30 minutes.
The cast included Chrissy Schwartz, Clay Adler, Allie Stockton, Grant Newman, Sasha Dunlap, Chase Cornwell, and Taylor Geiney, with Schwartz also serving as narrator. The opening theme was “Come Clean” by Hilary Duff. It was created as a successor to Laguna Beach to keep the franchise going, but it was canceled due to low ratings after two seasons. Filming occurred in early to mid-2007, with additional shooting later that year.
Home media: The complete series was released on Amazon CreateSpace on August 29, 2008, in a three-disc set, and both seasons are available for digital download on iTunes.
