Newmarket railway station, Brisbane
Newmarket railway station is on Brisbane’s Ferny Grove line, serving the suburb of Newmarket. It is located on Abuklea Street and sits about 6.5 km from Brisbane Central. The station has two platforms (an island platform) and two tracks. It is ground-level, electrified, and attended part time. Queensland Rail owns and operates the station. It was rebuilt in 2017–2018 and is in Go Card fare zone 1. Station codes are 600373 (platform 1) and 600374 (platform 2).
History and heritage: Newmarket is listed on the Brisbane Heritage Register. When the Enoggera Line opened in 1899, cattle saleyards moved to Newmarket from Normanby around 1880. The station was originally mainly a cattle yard between Wilston Road and Enoggera Road, and remains of the loading yard can be seen from platform 1 today.
Services: All stops Ferny Grove line services stop here, traveling from Ferny Grove to Roma Street, Boggo Road (Park Road), Coopers Plains and Beenleigh. The station before Newmarket toward Roma Street is Wilston, and the next station toward Ferny Grove is Alderley.
