Neil Buchanan
Neil Buchanan (born 11 October 1956 in Fazakerley, Liverpool) is an English artist, photographer and musician who became well known on British children’s TV. He co-created and hosted Art Attack, which ran on CITV from 1990 to 2007. He also presented Finders Keepers (1991–1996) and It’s a Mystery (1996–1999), and produced and starred in ZZZap!. Earlier in his career he played guitar in the heavy metal band Marseille, formed in 1976. Marseille released four albums and six singles, toured the United States, and shared stages with bands like Judas Priest, Nazareth and Whitesnake; the band reformed in 2009.
He attended Barlows Lane Primary School and Liverpool Institute High School for Boys. On TV, he began on No. 73/7T3 in the early 1980s and then hosted Motormouth (1988–1992). In 2000, rights to Art Attack were sold to Britt Allcroft for £14 million. Buchanan is married to Nicola K. Buchanan and they have two children. He has also made guest appearances, such as on Celebrity Juice in 2012. In 2017 it was reported he stepped back from Marseille to focus on TV consultancy, and in 2020 he denied being the street artist Banksy.
