Nate Boulton (born May 23, 1980) is an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Iowa Senate from 2017 to 2025. He represented the 16th district from 2017 to 2023 and the 20th district from 2023 to 2025 after redistricting. He was first elected in 2016 to replace retiring Senator Dick Dearden, and he took office in January 2017. In May 2017, he announced a bid for Iowa governor in 2018, but suspended his campaign in May 2018 after reports of sexual misconduct were published.

Boulton was born in Washington, Iowa, and grew up in Columbus Junction. He earned a JD from Drake Law School in 2005, a Master of Public Administration from Drake University, and a BA in history and political science from Simpson College. He is a partner at Hedberg & Boulton, practicing in workers’ compensation, personal injury, and labor law. He has been active with the Iowa Association for Justice, the Iowa Workers’ Compensation Advisory Committee, and has taught at Drake Law School, Simpson College, and William Penn University.

In the Iowa Senate, Boulton served as the ranking member on the Labor & Business Relations Committee, then as the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee and Administrative Rules Committee. He was the Senate Minority Whip in 2024. He left office on January 12, 2025, and was succeeded by Mike Pike.
