NKOTBSB Tour
The NKOTBSB Tour was a joint concert tour by two boy bands, New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) and the Backstreet Boys (BSB), who formed the duo NKOTBSB. The tour ran from May 25, 2011 to June 3, 2012, with two legs and about 80 shows. It started in North America in 2011 and expanded to Europe, Australia, and Asia in 2012.
The tour was financially successful. It ranked 44th on Pollstar’s Mid-Year Top 50 Worldwide Tours list, earning over $10 million, and finished 8th on Billboard’s 2011 Top 25 Tours with more than $76 million from 51 shows. A London show on April 29, 2012 at the O2 Arena was shown in select cinemas and streamed online pay-per-view.
The idea began after a 2010 moment when NKOTB and BSB performed together on stage at Radio City Music Hall during NKOTB’s Casi-NO Tour. The buzz online led to the decision to tour together. The tour was announced on Ryan Seacrest’s show, with plans for a single and a live Ustream Q&A, and they performed at the American Music Awards to preview what fans would see. Donnie Wahlberg even released a teaser image of the planned stage, featuring a standard setup with a catwalk to a circular platform.
