Mud Fire
The Mud Fire was a wildfire north of Litchfield, Lassen County, California. It started on August 29, 2017 around 2:30 p.m., east of U.S. Route 395 and north of Litchfield. Lightning started the blaze, which burned dry grass, sagebrush and juniper. The fire burned about 6,042 acres (24 square kilometers) before it was fully contained on September 1, 2017. Thirteen firefighters worked to contain it. No structures were damaged, but the fire destroyed important habitat for the greater sage-grouse.
