Florida State Road 77
State Road 77 (SR 77) is a major north–south highway in Florida’s Panhandle. It runs about 63 miles from Panama City in the south to the Alabama state line in the north, where it becomes Alabama State Route 109. The route is mainly a four-lane divided road from its southern end to near Chipley, then continues as a multi-lane rural highway to the border.
Starting in Panama City, SR 77 begins at US Business Route 98 (Sixth Street) and runs north, passing through Lynn Haven and Southport. It intersects several longer highways in the city area, including US 98, US 231, and SR 368, and it crosses into more rural areas as it heads toward the Panhandle.
Key junctions along the way include:
- In Panama City: US 98 Business, US 231, US 98, SR 368, and CR 28.
- In Chipley: I-10 (Exit 120) is a major connection; SR 77 becomes a main street through the city before continuing north.
- In Graceville: SR 77 meets SR 2 briefly and continues northeast toward the Alabama line.
- At the Florida–Alabama border: SR 77 ends and becomes Alabama State Route 109.
Along the corridor there are a couple of county-suffixed alternates:
- County Road 77A in Crow, serving Falling Waters State Park and connecting back to SR 77 in Chipley.
- County Road 2321 (formerly SR 77A) near Panama City, running north from Cedar Grove to the SR 77 corridor.
SR 77 passes through several communities, including Panama City, Lynn Haven, Southport, Vicksburg, Oak Park, Chipley, Graceville, and Wausau, before reaching the border with Alabama.
