Mr. Freeze
Mr. Freeze is Batman’s ice-themed villain from DC Comics. His real name is Victor Fries. He first appeared in 1959 as Mr. Zero, a scientist who becomes Mr. Freeze after an accident with cryogenic chemicals. He wears a high-tech cryo-suit and uses a freeze gun to commit ice-themed crimes so he can survive in sub-zero temperatures.
In 1992, Batman: The Animated Series reimagined him as a tragic figure. Victor Fries is a scientist who wants to save his terminally ill wife Nora by cryogenically preserving her. After a lab accident, he becomes Mr. Freeze and turns to crime to fund his experiments. Batman defeats him, and this backstory was later added to the comics.
Powers and abilities: he is a genius with cryokinesis (control of cold), and his suit gives him extra strength and durability. His aging is slowed, making him long-lived, and almost anything he touches can freeze.
Mr. Freeze has appeared in comics, TV, and films (notably Batman & Robin, 1997), with different actors and voice actors. In later stories, Nora’s name and the details of his life change, but the core idea stays: a scientist driven by love who uses ice to try to save his wife, clashing with Batman.
