Moderne Anstalt Rigororser Spakker (MARS) is an artist commune founded by Thomas D., a member of the German hip hop group Die Fantastischen Vier. It is about an hour from Cologne, Germany. The place was created as a haven where artists from different fields can work on their art without the distractions of city life. Besides music studios, MARS has beautiful architecture, nice furniture, a pond they built themselves, and large skateboarding facilities. Members of the commune, who call themselves Time Tourists, describe MARS as an innovative community where producing and performing artists live and work together away from the hustle and bustle of cities.
