Mixed team at the 1900 Summer Olympics

In the 1900 Paris Games, some teams were made up of athletes from different countries. The International Olympic Committee now groups these teams under a single category called the mixed team. It used the code ZZX for mixed teams until 2024 and uses XXB since 2024.

The mixed teams in 1900 won a total of six medals: one gold, two silver, and three bronze.

Notable members include Eustaquio de Escandón (Mexico), Manuel de Escandón (Mexico), Pablo de Escandón (Mexico), and Guillermo Hayden Wright (USA).

Medal changes: Up to 2024, the IOC counted 13 more medals for mixed teams. In 2024 those medals were reallocated to the specific countries represented by the athletes.

This history shows how early Olympics allowed teams with members from different nations, a practice that has since evolved.
