Million Dollar Arm is a 2014 American biographical sports drama about a failing sports agent who creates a bold plan to save his career. J. B. Bernstein launches a reality-style contest in India called “Million Dollar Arm” to discover two cricket players who could be trained as Major League Baseball pitchers. The story follows Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, who are selected and brought to the United States for coaching under veteran pitcher Tom House, while Bernstein fights to turn this risky idea into a real MLB opportunity.

The film stars Jon Hamm as Bernstein, Suraj Sharma as Rinku Singh, Madhur Mittal as Dinesh Patel, Bill Paxton as Tom House, with supporting turns by Aasif Mandvi and Alan Arkin. A. R. Rahman composed the score. Produced by Walt Disney Pictures with Roth Films and Mayhem Pictures, the movie had a budget of about $25 million and grossed around $39 million worldwide.

As the boys train, face setbacks, and grow their skills, Bernstein learns to put their well-being first. A late second tryout showcases their talents, with pitches reaching over 90 mph, catching the attention of MLB scouts. The real-life outcome is noted in an epilogue: Rinku and Dinesh later sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Critics gave mixed-to-positive reviews, praising Hamm’s charm and the inspirational premise while noting familiar, formulaic elements. Audience reactions were strong, reflected in an A- CinemaScore.
