Michael David Elkins (born July 20, 1966) is a former American football quarterback from Greensboro, North Carolina. He played at Grimsley High School and Wake Forest University, where he set several Wake Forest records and finished with 7,304 passing yards and 43 touchdowns. He helped the Demon Deacons earn winning seasons, was a finalist for the 1988 Davey O’Brien Award, and played in the 1989 Senior Bowl. He stood 6 ft 1 in tall and weighed about 221 pounds.

Elkins was drafted in 1989 by the Kansas City Chiefs in the second round (32nd overall). He spent most of his rookie season on injured reserve and appeared in one NFL game, completing 1 of 2 passes with an interception. In 1991 he played in the World League of American Football for the Sacramento Surge, throwing 2,068 yards with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He later had brief stints with the Cleveland Browns and Houston Oilers in 1992 but did not play in a regular-season game for them. His last NFL moments came on the Oilers’ sideline during a playoff game when the team blew a large lead.

After football, Elkins worked for a Cincinnati surgical instruments company. In 2022, Wake Forest inducted him into its Sports Hall of Fame. He comes from an athletic family: his father played professional baseball for 10 years, and his older brother Rod played quarterback for North Carolina from 1980 to 1982 before a career-ending injury.
