Microsoft Power Platform

Microsoft Power Platform is a set of low-code tools that helps you build custom business apps, automate tasks, and analyze data. It connects with many Microsoft products and services, including GitHub, Azure, Dynamics 365, and Teams, as well as other apps you use. The platform was first released in 2018.

Power Platform uses Power Fx, a built-in low-code language, to express the logic behind your apps and automations. This makes it easier for people with different levels of technical skill to create solutions.

A core part of the platform is Microsoft Dataverse. Dataverse is a cloud database that stores data used by Power Platform, Office 365, and Dynamics 365. It keeps data separate from the applications, so you can manage, analyze, and report on it in one place. Dataverse is built on Azure SQL and follows the Common Data Model for consistent data structure.

Dataverse supports multiple data types, including relational tables, files, data lakes, and semi-structured data. It includes strong security features through Microsoft Entra ID, with conditional access, multifactor authentication, and row- and column-level security. You can import, manage, and export data, apply business rules, set up calculations, and detect duplicates. Dataverse also offers connectors to other Microsoft services like Azure Event Hub, Azure Service Bus, SQL, and Data Lake, and works with Power BI and Power Apps.
