Michael Rohde (botanist)

Michael Rohde (1782–1812) was a German physician and botanist from Bremen. He studied natural sciences and medicine at the University of Göttingen from 1800 to 1804. After graduation, he traveled for several years in southern Germany, Austria, and France. In 1804 he published Monographiae Cinchonae generis tentamen. He began a medical practice in Bremen in 1809. The plant genus Rohdea is named after him. He died in Bremen in 1812 at the age of 29.
