Methylbutanol refers to several related alcohols that have five carbon atoms in total. Each has a methyl group attached to a butanol backbone. The four common isomers are:
- 2-methyl-1-butanol
- 3-methyl-1-butanol
- 2-methyl-2-butanol
- 3-methyl-2-butanol

All four share the same chemical formula, C5H12O, and are collectively known as pentanol isomers. They are used as solvents and as ingredients in flavors and fragrances. They can also form during fermentation in small amounts. They are flammable liquids and should be handled with care.
