Methods of Silence is the second studio album by German synth-pop trio Camouflage. It was released on 5 June 1989 by Atlantic Records and runs 39 minutes and 17 seconds. The album was produced by Dan Lacksman, who blended modern and vintage equipment to shape the sound. Camouflage built a new studio, Boys Factory 2, near their hometown and then recorded at Synsound Studio in Brussels in early 1989, giving the band more creative freedom after their previous success.

The album reached number 13 on the German albums chart. Its lead single, "Love Is a Shield," peaked at number 9 on the German singles chart and reached number 20 on the US Billboard Alternative Airplay chart, becoming one of the band’s best-known songs. The second single, "One Fine Day," was released in October 1989.

Critics noted the album’s precise production and strong pop-song structures, while some viewed its style as signaling a shift away from late-80s synth-pop as the 1990s began. Methods of Silence sits in Camouflage’s discography after Voices & Images (1988) and before Meanwhile (1991).
